Bhangarh

Bhangarh is located between Jaipur and Delhi, and is also a pre-historic site and tourist spot. The journey to Bhangarh takes approx 1.5 hrs and is 65kms from Jaipur. The most remarkable aspects of Bhangarh are its old buildings: the Hindu temples of Gopinath, Shiv (Someshwar), Hanuman, Ganensh, Vishal Devta, Lavina Devi, and Keshav Rai. Other buildings include shops along the main road, several havelis, a mosque, and a palace. The palace was protected by two inner fortifications across the valley. The town is separated from the plain by ramparts with five gates.

Bhangarh Fort, which was built in 1613, was suddenly destroyed, it became haunted. Entering the fort between sunset and sunrise is strictly banned by the Indian government. Visit the haunted fort and its sites with your guide, who shows you around for roughly two hours.

Afterward, head about an hour to Abhaneri to visit the Chand Baori stepwell and Harshat Mata temple.

Abhaneri

Abhaneri, located at a distance of 95 km from Jaipur on Jaipur-Agra road, is a village in the Dausa district of Rajasthan. The place is widely popular as it is home to a colossal step well, Chand Baori, which is considered among the most beautiful step wells of India. The village of Abhaneri is believed to have been established by Samrat Mihir Bhoj who was a Gurjar Pratihar king.

The village was originally named Abha Nagri, which means the “city of brightness”, however, with time, due to mispronunciation of the term, it is now called Abhaneri.
